If only it was that simple...

The other day I found this image on TheChive.com. Working in a bar, I realized how this approach could solve a lot of problems. Imagine it's 5am in a bar with mostly guys who have failed to "hook-up" with a young drunk hottie. A female enters the bar. The music and time seem to stop as all eyes target the poor woman who has just walked through the door. Before she can get to the bar it's as if an injured baby seal swam into shark infested waters. They begin to circle. They are all unaware this woman just got off of work and all she wants to do is sit down, have a cocktail, smoke a few cigarettes, and be left alone. Unfortunately this shall not be. One by one they take turns trying to buy her a drink or engage in small talk. Sooner than later the woman becomes annoyed and exits, leaving me with a bunch of dude once again. There needs to be a way for guys to know which girls are approachable and which ones should be left alone. Maybe a sign like a facebook status? This may not work because most guys are terrible at reading signs, even if they are blunt and to the point. I was going to photoshop this picture with suggestions; but I am far too lazy so you will have to use your imagination. Here are some of my ideas:
"Leave me alone!"
"Not interested"
"I am lonely, please talk to me."
"No thanks! I'm fine."
"You have nothing to offer"
"Fair game"

This started to seem a little too complicated. I think a simpler solution would be similar to a stop light.

A green light would mean I am presently available for interaction with anyone. I'm here to party! Let the good times roll!

A yellow light would mean approach with caution. May interact with the right person.

A red light would mean NO. DO NOT APPROACH! DO NOT OFFER TO BUY ME A DRINK! LEAVE ME ALONE!

A green light that turns yellow in the middle of a conversation could mean I thought you were harmless at first and now you are starting to creep me out. Please gracefully say goodbye and walk away before the light turns red.

I know none of these ideas would solve all of the problems but maybe it's a start. for now I guess I will just have to sit back and watch the shit show unfold.

Re-vacuation.......

So Gustav came and went....We went and and came back. The whole time I was evacuating all I could think was here we go again. At least I got to spend a little time with family. We came back to a smelly house, but at least it wasn't damaged. The power was on and the cable came on the next morning. So I guess everything will get back to normal soon. Meanwhile back to the grind.....

Al Copeland is a pig?

So I was going to get gas today and I passed the former site of Copeland's resturaunt. I almost had to pull over from laughing so hard. Someone (Whoever you are; YOU ROCK!) had scrawled "AL IS A PIG" on the front door and side of the building.
Okay so here is some of the back story. Hurricaine Katrina happened a little more than 2 years ago. Since then Al Copeland, The founder of Popeye's Chicken, has re-opened many of his restuarants and at least one new one that I know of. His New Orleans sites have pretty much been left untouched for over 2 years. Both New Orleans site can be considered prime real estate as they are both located on St. Charles Ave. The site pictured above on the corner of Napoleon and St. Charles is a Mardi Gras hot spot because almost all of the uptown parades turn right there on that corner. Why Mr.Copeland will not take care of his abandoned properties is another New Orleans mystery.
Hey Al, if you are not going to re-open for business why not sell and let someone else take over?
I have have lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years now. I really wish this spot was not wasted space.

Can't Blame White People

Can't Blame White People
by Bill Cosby

They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Why you ain't, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English... except these knuckleheads. Mushmouth is what they speak!
You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads throwing that all away. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit.
Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18?
And, how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father?

People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something? They're walking around with their nasty underwear showing, and holding onto their pants to keep them from falling to the ground! Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up to her panty line, and got all types of needle piercings going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.
With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail. Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed.

Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' --or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs.

We as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids saying... you are hurting us. We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer.

It is not for media or anyone of this time anymore to say whether I'm right or wrong. It is time, ladies and gentlemen, to look at the numbers.
Fifty percent of our children are dropping out of high school. Sixty percent of the incarcerated males happen to be illiterate. There's a correlation.
Tell the media to stop asking me what I think about people who don't believe what I'm saying or feel that I'm too harsh or feel that I'm just running my mouth because I'm old.
Seventy percent of the teenagers pregnant happen to be African American girls.

Don't ask me to soften my message.

Just another day

I feel like I am trapped in a time warp. My days seem really long but weeks seem to fly by. Weird.

Are you for real??

I saw a political ad the other day that drove me absolutely bonkers. It essentially said that Democrats support terrorism. Can you back this up with facts? How naive is the American public? Do people really believe this crock of shit? Will we really ever "win" the war on terror? Hey pal, How is that war on drugs coming? I can tell we are "winning" that by the amount of crackheads I deal with on a daily basis. Let's start some real wars. How about the war on illiteracy ? The war on poverty? The war on ass backwards government? The war on cancer? How about the war against war?
